THE FRIENDSHIP FORCE

 

BUILDING GLOBAL GOODWILL THROUGH PERSONAL FRIENDSHIP

The President Jimmy Carter at White house gathering of Governors announced foundation of  The Friendship Force International by Wayne Smith who was nominee for Nobel peace prize in 1992.   International council of distinguished persons serve as board of reference for organization.

what we do

 

The Friendship Force promotes friendship and goodwill through international home stay exchanges.  The travelling goodwill ambassadors shares lives with host families in another country for a week or two.   Host receives no payment for opening their homes. Ambassador pays for their travelling expenses and administrative fees that cover operating cost of Friendship Force.  Over 1,45,000 ambassadors and 4,16,000 hosts have participated through 3,600 exchanges touching lives of 20,00,000 people, bringing to life motto "A world of friends is a world of peace"

 

bridge builders - special interest programs
 

The new Friendship Force Bridge builder program uses home stay format as means for linking professional or special interest counterpart.  Bridge builder exchanges provide unique opportunity to put friendship in to action through joint project that grow out of personal friendship established during exchange

Popular Bridge builder  Programs:

professional- Matching ambassadors and hosts by profession or occupation.

Academic- Pairing specific schools, student groups, or specialists in a particular field of study.

youth- Involving youth groups in programs for Friendship and humanitarian work in the host country.

Each year international conference brings together friendship force volunteer leader around the world.  Friendship magazine is published six times each year.  It features articles on recent exchanges and up coming exchange activities

The organization's  headquarter  is located in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.  Friendship Force International plans and oversees exchanges for clubs and members around the world.  The small-dedicated staff has substantial global expertise.  Many have served with international humanitarian, health, educational, economic and travel organizations.  Drawing from these experiences, Friendship force staff brings to their work strong personal convictions about the powers of friendship to enlarge human understanding.  Their international contacts and knowledge help to produce rewarding, memorable programs for Ambassadors and Hosts
