WHAT IS FRIENDSHIP FORCE ?

The Friendship Force International (FFI) is a worldwide network of clubs that advance the mission of promoting global understanding across the barriers that separate people. FFI is a non-profit cultural peace organization which is engaged in bringing people together and connecting them at personal level. FFI coordinates home stay for its  group of 15-20 members in host countries. When local hosts open their homes to visitors from other countries and cultures, true understanding can develop through the conversation, routines of daily life and sharing of meals. Since its founding in 1977, FFI has brought together millions of people. In 2007 alone, 5767 friendship ambassadors traveled between 58 countries, with thousands more serving as hosts.

FFI has its head office at Atlanta and a full time staff coordinates the activities of global cultural exchanges. Clubs are given choices of visiting other clubs and receiving incoming clubs one year ahead. Clubs select where to go and whom to invite. Appropriate date, program and other details are mutually decided by paired clubs. Hosting fees to cover administrative expenses are paid to head office and hosting clubs. Staff of head office coordinates all these communication. FFI is governed by board of directors.

      Board of Directors

The governing body of The Friendship Force International is a Board of Directors, which meets regularly to set policies and guarantee that legal requirements and fiscal responsibilities are met. The Directors serve as volunteers and are either experienced Friendship Force International leaders or business and professional leaders from around the world.

Directors are elected for three-year terms and only one Director per class may be eligible for election to a second, consecutive term. Classes are staggered so that each year the terms of three Directors expire. The Directors elect a chairperson who serves a term of one year. The affairs of the Board are governed by bylaws adopted by a two-thirds majority of the Directors. The full Board meets two times each year, with Executive Committee meetings held additionally as needed.

The Board's policy is to respond to inquiries as a unified body. Issues raised in individual correspondence are grouped and summarized for Board review. The President of Friendship Force International communicates policies as adopted by the Board via a monthly Leadership Forum sent to Friendship Force Club Presidents. Beginning in 2003, the Board seeks to increase its breadth of communication to Friendship Force participants worldwide via this web-page, Friendship magazine and other appropriate forums.

At present the governing board is chaired by Mr. George Brown, President & CEO Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Mr. George Brown, along with the help of board members, has been devoting his time for expanding and innovating FFI and has brought in extensive changes that have taken FFI further in its motto.

The Friendship Force of Nashik is one of the network of clubs of FFI around the world participating in cultural exchanges involving family stay.
